The Town Council has approved plans to establish a farmer’s market each Saturday morning.

Linda Taylor, who raises beef and poultry here, said the market, run through the nonprofit Steamboat City Association, will focus on “locally produced fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs, plants, cut flowers, fresh eggs, and quality handcrafted items.” Garage sale or flea market items will not be allowed.

Taylor will be community coordinator and hopes to open the market each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. beginning April 28, the last Saturday in April.

There will be no fee for vendors, but they will have to register with the coordinator, providing their name, contact information, and a list of items that will be offered for sale. Pre-approval will be required for each vendor. Vendors will be responsible for their own setup and cleanup.

Anyone interested can contact Taylor at 826-6518 or by e-mail at mauiflyer@hotmail.com.
