Held on the festival grounds at the entrance of town, the Washington annual "Catfish Festival" takes place the third weekend of March and continues to be a huge success! With beautiful spring weather, festival-goers and the entire family are able brush up on their two-step with live Cajun and Zydeco, antique shopping, arts and crafts booths & Kid’s Corner.

Musical entertainment on Thursday night kicks off the festivities which continue throughout the weekend. Following the Opening Ceremony on Saturday morning, various Louisiana musicians perform throughout the day and food booths serve delicious local dishes. The Washington Garden Club Flower show is held on Saturday followed by the Farmers’ Parade down Main Street.

The Catfish Cook-Off competition begins early at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Winners are selected by a panel of judges and awards presented in the early afternoon. Festival goers can sample the winning dishes as the music continues.

All proceeds from this event go to the Municipal Public Library Renovation Fund. If we missed you this year, we hope you will visit us next year for the annual Washington Catfish Festival!!  See you there!
